Happy Valentine's Day

First of all i wish you all a very happy valentine's day. Love is life....Life is love. SO do love everyone around you. Love your parents, brothers, patners, pets, job, nature, life.......etc and more of all love yourself.

(Saint) Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The day was originally a pagan festival that was renamed after two Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines". Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have largely given way to mass-produced greeting cards.

The sending of Valentines was a fashion in nineteenth-century Great Britain, and, in 1847, Esther Howland developed a successful business in her Worcester, Massachusetts home with hand-made Valentine cards based on British models.

We are BRITish:

Yes..Its time for us to attend the British citizenship ceremony that took place on 11th feb 2009. So me and my dad are british from now on....The ceremony went very well and my mom took too many snaps.
Once we entered, we were asked to register and asked us to relax at the refreshment room. People said i look too gorgeous in my beautiful dress. They also told that i am the center of attraction, and also added that when i grow up guys may have problem...Hahaaaa.........Sooooo Funny.

Then we relaxed for few min where the mayor came and spoke some few words with us. Then they asked us to assemble in the other room where we got to take Oath. Well....i tried to be a good girl, but asusual i could not. My mom asked me to maintain silence( which i hate the more)......ooooooo God , i could not do that. Then i started to cry and my dad took me out and got me some yummy biscuits.........Well after that i really behaved very well.......I just opened my mouth , to eat that yummy biscuits. As the ceremony was taking place, i was watchng it and enjoying my chocolate biscuite( You know it was too yummy). My dad and all other members stood up started to take the Oath. Then the mayor addressed the members. Then they called each and every one to collect their certificate. When our name was called we went to the collect ours certificate. It was too good. When mayor hand-shaked with me, i was holding his hands for few seconds and gave some pose to the camera. But i dont know why everybody laughed. Then my dad got his certificate and i got my teddy and a mug.

After these certificate distribution, we were asked to stand as the mayor left the hall. We were also asked to stand for the national anthem......Well, my mom and dad felt bad during that time......They said it was bit hurting but could not help it......But you know what???.......We still love our country........

Kaarthigai Deepam 2008

Kaarthigai Deepam 2008( Festival of lights) celebration went very well at my house in UK. My mom made me to wear a new Pattu langa and beautiful jewels...My dad said i looked very beautiful. My mom decorated our house with nice beautiful bright light, which looked fab. We were invited for dinner at Ramesh mama's house and enjoyed our rest of our day at their palce.

LETS KNOW:
Kaarthigai Deepam is a festival of lights, celebrated in the Tamil month of Kaarthigai. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the Kaarthigai month which coincides with Krithikai star. It is also considered as the extension of the Deepavali festival. In some houses, they double the number of lamps every day from the day of Deepavali and this way, they end up with a number of lamps on the day of Kaarthigai Deepam.
It is celebrated in a special manner in Thiruvannamalai. Lord Shiva asks Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu to find out the exact location of his head and his feet. Since Lord Shiva takes a gigantic form, they are not able to find out anywhere. Then Lord Shiva takes the form of a jyothi (light of fire) on the hill of Thiruvannamali. Therefore, this festival is also known as Annamalai Deepam. Here, a special torch is lighted on the zenith of the hill and it is believed that Lord Shiva's jothi will be visible on this day. Lord Muruga took the form of six babies in a lake called "Saravana Poigai". On this day, all his six forms were united by Parvathi(his mother) and this way, he had six faces. Special poojas are performed to Lord Muruga.
On this day, people clean the houses. In the evening, they draw kolams (rangoli) in the front of the house and also place some lamps on it. The lamps(Agal) are placed in the pooja and lighted. Then the Deeparathana is done in which the lamps are moved to different places in the house. The lamps glow all over the streets on this day. The lamps are arranged near the doors and windows and also in the balconies. In this way, people of Tamil Nadu celebrate Kaarthigai Deepam for three days.

Our New Year Celebration

Well new yearcelebration are always fun. I dont think anybody would like to miss that???Very cheerfully welcoming the next year that is about to born. We all wish that the coming year should be much better than the one we had before. So the cheerfulness keeps on growing more and more for each and every year....

Talking about my new year eve celebration....We first decided to celebrate it with our family( even in the up-coming years). Because its always nice to celebrate with people who we really love and who really love us.

I personally as a 2 year old enjoyed my day with my parents. We decided to go for a dinner together. So went to Nando's ( My mom's fav place to eat) and had our very nice and heavy dinner. Coming back to home, we had a nice time together chatting and playing some games, while watching the new year eve's show on T.V.

While me watching the T.V shows and playing, my parents suprisngly gave me a gift. Wow......the gift that i wished for and the one i always wanted to have. Yes, its my very first vanity set. I loved my gift very much. Then my parents unwrapped the gift, with which i palyed for hours, and watched the T.V shows. I really loved to see the fire works and the cheerful people....At last when the clock stiked 12.00........wow, we shouted "Happy New Year" and my parents kissed me ...........wowwwwwwww.... the fire work at London started.......Wow.........it was so colourful and beautiful......Wish this year to be more colourful, beautiful and cheerful..............Hope i keep getting gifts every year from my parents...:-)hee hee........
WISH U ALL A WONDERFUL YEAR.....!!!

Kedareshwara Pooja ( 2008)

This is the puja(nombu), that is done in our family for years, during the time of diwali amavasai. My grandparents use to perform this puja and send the nombu thread posted to UK. But last year as my grandfather expired, we were told to take the nombu for rest of the up coming years.

This nombu is performed to LORD SHIVA. One of my mom's fav god. So on the year 2008, we did our first nombu offically. The day for so nice, that i was made to wear my traditional dress and my mom too dressed up in saree. All the puja items were washed, and decorated with flowers. Fruits and flowers were offered to God. As my dad kept reading the slogan and story, my mom came around the kalasam and offered flowers. The puja went very well, as per the procedure. My mom and dad were fasting till the end of the puja. It was totally a different experince for me and my parents.

A short NOTE :

This Nombu is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi(the day Narakasura was killed by Lord Krishna) Dhanalaxmi puja is also done on that day; some do instead dhanya laxmi puja; Kedareshwara vrita was performed by Gauri to obtain the half body of Shiva. When the pramatha gana brangiriti did the pradaxina for Shiva without including Parvati. Shiva explains on enquiry by her that those who know brahman have nothing to obtain from you hence they do not do the circumambulation. Parvati, in a huff of anger leaves the place and enters the forest. Encountering the sage Gautama she asks the sage a way to obtain the half body of Shiva. He asked her to perform Kedareshwar vrita. It starts from ashtami(8th day) and culminates on amavaasya day. In practice however, it is generally done on the last day. So it is the worship of Lord Shiva and the name is Kedareshwara vrita. All pujas call for some austerities like fast or semi-fast on fruits or milk or juices. There is no exception for this.
